It’s Time To Party!!!

It’s Time To Party

Text: Leviticus 23:2

Intro: Before we get started we want to point out that there was a time when only holiness existed. There was no evil. When you mention the term party some immediately have a negative programming to conjure in their minds all sorts of lewd things. But God was getting together with His creation long before evil crept on the scene and corrupted the practice of genuine holy enjoyment among persons of the same mind. As a matter of fact God instituted 7 feasts that all remind us of the one who came to die for all of mankind so that we could reign in life together with Him.

  1. Feast of Passover
    1. This feast was instituted so that Israel could be reminded of what God had brought them out of. After 430 years of brutal slavery God judged pharaoh and Egypt….the last judgment upon Egypt was all the firstborn had to die. And every house that did not have the blood of the spotless lamb applied to the doorpost that firstborn baby had to die. While those that did have the Lamb’s blood applied to the door post…their children were just fine. After this judgment the Egyptians had to let Israel go.
      1. It is through the blood of Jesus Christ that a person escapes the judgment of God just as the people who had the blood of the lamb escaped the death angel. So those who have the blood of Jesus Christ applied to their hearts and lives so they have escaped death. The Lamb was sacrificed for us so that all who believe upon Him who died and rose again should have life and that more abundantly. Abundantly because they not only came out of Egypt but they came out rich and healthy and they had the visible presence of God with the pillar of fire by night and the pillar of cloud by day!

  1. Feast of Unleavened Bread
    1. This feast pointed to the fact that the people of God had to hurry up and leave Egypt. They had a direct order from pharaoh to get up out of here and get out now! The people did not even have enough time for their bread to rise so they had to take unleavened bread. So God set this feast in place to remind them and us of the necessity of getting and staying out of the godless social system.
      1. It is important that we realize why this was instituted when God says to leave a place we must do it quickly. Remember Lot’s wife. She left Sodom physically, but not mentally. The angel told her don’t look back…but she did and became a memorial to all those who would do the same.

  1. Feast of Firstfruits
    1. This festival was to thank God for the crops that were produced and gave the people a time to honor God with the first production of their field. This feast symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ who was the first person to rise from the dead. The first production of the harvest of souls that will rise from the dead and meet their maker one day. Isn’t that exciting!! This is encouraging us as New Testament believers to honor God with the first of what we have and not the left overs. Left overs are fine but if their is some food fresh out of the oven I would rather have that.
  2. Feast of Harvest
    1. This festival was put in place by God so that the people could thank him for their harvest overall and to dedicate their life freshly to Him. It is important to catch here that the Feast of Firstfruits and the feast of Harvest were celebrated 50 days apart. The feast of Harvest can also be called the feast of Pentecost…which happened 50 days after the feast of first fruits. Now we already shared how that The feast of the firstfruits symbolized the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the feast of the harvest can be called the feast of pentecost. Well, Pentecost happened 50 days after Christ rose from the dead and that is when the Holy Ghost fell on all of the people and the great harvest of souls was brought in to the Kingdom of God.
  3. Feast of Trumpets
    1. This festival was instituted to arouse the people to trust God more and more. There would be trumpet blasts throughout the camp on this one-day festival to remind the people that faith in God is how they were established as a nation. That is how we are established not by the hand of man but by the Hand of God! This is a symbol of the rapture of the Church when the last trumpet sounds and those of us who are alive and remain are to be caught up to be with Jesus forever and ever!!! As we march toward our promised land with our promised divine nature we are to remind people that Faith in Christ will eradicate their sins and enable them to be a partaker of God’s divine nature!!
  4. Feast of Tabernacles
    1. This festival celebrated the wilderness wonderings of the people and this festival was not to be forgotten even after they did not have to wonder in the wilderness anymore. This festival is a reminder to us that this world is not our home and we are just passing through. We don’t build a foundation to stay….we build a legacy to leave. A legacy of faithfulness to God and love toward all mankind no matter how mean or perverse we are just passing through and they may not meet someone like you ever again in their life!!! We are pilgrims on our way to the promised land. Looking for a city…..
  5. Day of Atonement
    1. The purpose of this feast was for the people of God to be reconciled to God by the substitute sacrifice the only way to be acceptable to God. Just like the people of God had to have a high priest to bring the blood within the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle….so we needed our High Priest to present the blood that He shed on that cross to the Father in the Holy of Holies in heaven. Unlike the high priest on earth Jesus only went in once with his blood. He is never going to die again.

  1. We have something to celebrate brothers and sisters we have a high priest who can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He is not there to kick you down. He is there to kick the devil and pick you up. Remember don’t just keep the faith share it and may the Lord be with you!!!!
